Meet the founders of the fastest growing, community-event in the Houston area. After tossing the idea around for some time, Chicago natives and Houston businessmen Lamont Waits (owner of Boogie’s Chicago Style BBQ) and Chuck Rivers (BB’s Beef & Hotdog) decided to host a picnic for Chicagoans living in the Houston area. Their idea was to have a day where Chicagoans could enjoy the food, music, and activities that many had grown to love in their native Chicago; but, missed while living in Houston. Thus, the Chi-Town Connection picnics were created. Meet the founders of the fastest growing, community-event in the Houston area.

 

Meet Lamont “Boogie” Waits

 

Lamont “Boogie” Waits, along with his wife Nicoya, owns Boogie’s Chicago Style BBQ. Since 2006 they have been serving burgers, brisket, chicken, and their signature item – rib tips, which is a Chicago staple. After many years of hard work, excellent customer service, and serving delicious food, Waits opened a second location in Missouri City in 2014.

 

Known for being a community leader and supporter, he has worked continuously to help those in need. Over the years he has sponsored a number of community events and has participated in collaborative community giving projects including donating blankets and socks to the homeless, food to needy families for the holidays, and adopting families for the holidays through the Star of Hope.

 

Meet Chuck Rivers

 

Chuck, along with his wife Brenda, opened BB’s Beef & Hotdog in 2009 and then reorganized into a food truck in 2010. BBs serves Chicago favorites – Vienna beef hot dogs, Maxwell Street Polish sausages, pizza puffs, chicken wings with mild sauce (another Chicago culinary staple), and Italian Beef. The BB’s truck can be spotted all over Houston serving patrons at Lakewood Church, Houston’s RV parks, night clubs, festivals, and private events.

 

The owners of BB’s Beef & Hotdog maintain strong ties to their local community. This relationship allows them to make donations to a variety of community-based fundraising events, including those who help needy families and persons who are homeless.
